Novotel Darwin CBD

Housekeeping barely happened during our week there. The room was never cleaned, the beds weren’t made, the bedding wasn’t changed, and nothing was vacuumed or wiped down. We only received fresh towels. The pool area was dirty the whole time, with used glasses, plates and cutlery left around from previous days. The pool itself looked visibly dirty. There was so much chlorine in the spa that my daughter’s lungs and throat burned, and she coughed and vomited for about 10 minutes. When I told staff, they laughed it off. I also raised a safety concern about the pool fence: a staff member pushed the locked gate until it popped open, and when I said it was dangerous for children, they laughed again. Cleanliness was a problem from arrival. There was broken glass and cigarette butts on the balcony, a dirty shower, a clogged kitchenette sink, and a loose tap coming out of the countertop. Breakfast was poorly managed too. Bacon, eggs and hash browns kept running out, sometimes with waits of up to 20 minutes for refills. This was a very disappointing stay and ruined our holiday. The hotel feels old, poorly maintained and unhygienic, and didn’t seem suitable or safe for families with children. I’d never stay here again and would advise others to look elsewhere.

The kangaroo dish on the menu was delicious, and all the staff were great. I was here for work and loved the foyer. The rooms and pool area could use an update, but they were still nice.

Sola made check-in quick and easy, and she was kind and friendly throughout my stay, checking whether I needed anything. I had a nice view from my room. It was a bit old, but clean and comfortable, so I had no complaints. Shout-out to the housekeeping team 👏👌 Novotel Darwin CBD is right in the CBD and close to everything, so it was easy to walk around the city. I really enjoyed staying here and would come back 😊

It was pouring rain on the day we arrived, and after calling around for a room, we finally found one at Novotel CBD. Hang at reception was so kind, friendly and helpful. She suggested local food and places to visit. When we were rushing to leave, my daughter realized she’d left her favorite toy at the hotel. Hang kindly helped ship it to our home in Brisbane. Our family had a great stay at Novotel Darwin CBD.
