Palms City Resort

The pool and grounds were clean, and the rooms seemed well soundproofed, though the place wasn’t full. I can imagine rooms on one side getting pub noise. It’s the nicest place I’ve stayed in Darwin, but the service details were frustrating. There was no backup plan when the chef got sick, and the room wasn’t cooled before we arrived. I booked for four, yet they didn’t seem to think we’d need four towels. We started with six tiny milk portions, enough for two coffees. On day two we got five and were told to wait until the next day for more, so that was only enough for one coffee. Then those five were off, and they were replaced with two more that were off.

The pool area was immaculate and the atmosphere was quiet. It’s also in a handy spot in Darwin’s CBD. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating, and our room was comfortable and clean. I couldn’t recommend this resort more.

Pickles the parrot at reception was a fun touch and kept my kids entertained. We only wish we’d stayed longer. The gardens are lush and lovely, a real break from the heat, and the location and staff were both great. The buffet breakfast was the best value we found anywhere. The whole place was spotless, so clean I thought it must have just been renovated, though it was done two years ago. We’ve paid more for bigger brands in Darwin before, but never again. This place is perfect, and from now on we’ll only stay here.

We loved our one night at the Palms Villa with a Private Outdoor Spa. We went for my boyfriend’s 21st birthday and found it really relaxing. He was also delighted to see the very cute parrot.
