The breakfast setup was a great idea. They give you vouchers, so you can eat whenever you want instead of rushing in the morning. The location is right in the heart of the city, which is a plus, and the beds are comfy with good pillow options. Beyond that, there aren’t many luxuries. There was no hand soap by the basin, and although I had a double room for four people, I kept handing in four towels and getting only two back. Self check-in was good, but parking is very limited, so book ahead or expect no nearby options. The pool is about the size of a swim spa, but handy to have in the constant heat. The walls are thin, though there wasn’t much outside noise.

The rooms had an unpleasant smell, and the hotel feels old and needs renovation or at least better upkeep. Check-in was plagued by tech issues: the WiFi never worked, and the system tried to charge me $40 twice. Staff refunded it the first time and waived it after it happened again. The location is OK, though weekends can get loud with live music venues and nightclubs right nearby. At least the air conditioning worked well, and one receptionist was very friendly.

We ended up in room 214, a family room, after the room on level 3 smelled bad because it was beside the laundry. The stay was OK for our family, with a clean pool and a good central location. The room was dark, with a small window, and the old fridge's freezer didn't freeze. The air conditioning dial was dated too.

The place is in an excellent spot in Darwin CBD, and the staff were polite and helpful. I booked a room with a kitchenette, and on-site parking is available for a fee. The facilities were clean and we had no major issues, so the stay was fine. Still, the building, rooms, lobby and furniture are old and don't feel like what you'd expect from somewhere listed as a 4-star hotel.

The rooms smelled awful and looked like prison cells. The shower water was cold, and the air conditioning was so noisy we had to turn it off. Just an awful place.
