Ark of Denmark

The freshly baked loaf waiting on the wooden kitchen bench was such a lovely surprise. My partner and I spent two nights in this beautiful place, surrounded by trees, birds and natural views from every window. The Ark itself felt so comforting, and it had everything we could need. We loved having privacy, though we didn't see the owners. Their dog greeted us, and we played ball with her now and then, which was nice since we'd left our own dogs behind. It was such a refreshing stay. We'll return and might try the studio next time.

We spent four nights in the yurt at the Ark of Denmark, and it's been a wonderful week. The chalet had everything we needed for a relaxing winter break for two, with our furry friend along too. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and the surroundings were incredibly peaceful. I'd recommend it without hesitation.

The freestanding bath is my favourite part. Leave me there with bubbles, Ziggy Alberts playing and a little glass of the good stuff, and I'm happy. We stayed at Ark of Denmark (Ark) in summer, in Due South, for the second time and it didn't disappoint. It's about five minutes by car from town, or five minutes to a decent coffee and breakfast at Mrs Jones. Due South and the Yurt are the properties here. The rustic, cosy self-catering place rises among the tall karri trees and big grey granite rocks, with the buildings literally wrapped around them. Such a romantic setting. In winter, or around then, be ready for the Denmark chill if you're coming from somewhere warmer. There is a wood burner and warm furnishings to bundle up in, plus the elevated view of the karri trees swaying outside and glimpses of the inlet. Don't expect five-star luxury, but this soulful place can make deep, lasting romantic memories.

It felt like a forest getaway, even though the ark is only about five minutes from town. My partner and I had such a good time in the yurt, surrounded by nature, and we'll be back.
