The owner kindly found us a room after another motel cancelled our booking without telling us. It felt a bit like stepping back into the 1980s, but the resort was clean and well maintained.

I enjoyed my two weeks at the King Sound Resort. The building is a little dated, but the tropical pool area is lovely and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. My room was clean and comfortable, with a kettle, toaster, microwave, iron, and ironing board.

It looked from the street as though the place had closed, and it’s run down and needs renovation. Still, we found it clean and comfortable, and the few staff we met were lovely. The meals were delicious, and we enjoyed our time here. Thank you to everyone who works here.

Our car stayed securely in the Resort lock-up car park at no extra charge while we spent the night at the Horizontal Falls. Before that, we stayed one night here ahead of our August 2024 Horizontal Falls trip. The reception lady was very friendly and helpful, our room was spacious and well appointed, and the pool area was beautiful. We’re happy to recommend the King Sound Resort to anyone visiting Derby.

Kim and Mick were the highlight of our stay, the staff looked after us so well. Our meals were excellent and very large, too. We had a quiet, comfortable twin/family room that easily fit two adults and three kids, and it was well stocked with towels and soaps.
