Eildon Pondage Holiday Park

We visited in early May and found it quiet, with spacious sites and direct access to the Pondage. The grounds are in a great spot. The facilities are a little old, but they're kept clean, and the staff were friendly and very accommodating.

We managed to book a powered site at the last minute for 2/1/26-5/1/26. The online booking was simple, with clear information about facilities and rules. It's in a great spot from Wilson’s resivoure to goldburn river, with some really nice views. You can see plenty of carp, though I didn't get a bite. The downside is that swimming and boating aren't allowed there. The main lake is a five-minute drive away, and town is close if you're missing essentials. As a first-time camper, I got to try out all my new Christmas gear without worrying too much that I'd forgotten something. There are heaps of amenities: toilets, showers, fridges, toasters, kitchens and a pizza oven. Basically a hotel in a tent. Everything was super clean and regularly maintained, even in peak season when the park was very busy. There were lots of children, but the sites are spacious enough that we didn't hear much from nearby campers. Staff, including the maintenance workers, were super friendly and approachable. We pitched a tent on an unpowered site for a nice, quiet stay near Eildon. While hammering in small stakes, we hit a waterline. The caretakers were understanding and helpful, and offered us another spot. There's a big choice of powered and unpowered sites, and the toilet and shower facilities were reasonable. No major issues otherwise.

The calm, welcoming atmosphere was a real highlight, with friendly people all around. The park sits by the pondage, so it's peaceful and scenic, with room to relax or get outdoors. There's direct water access for fishing or a quiet walk, and plenty of nearby trails and places to explore. We stayed in a cabin that felt homely, clean and well equipped, with wonderful views and the water just a short stroll away. There are also tent sites, so there are options for different kinds of stays. Facilities include well-kept BBQ areas, a swimming pool and plenty of space for children to play. The staff were helpful and made everything easy from the moment we arrived. A great mix of rest and outdoor activities.
