We had really good pub food at reasonable prices, with different specials each night and $5 happy hour beers. If you're there on a Wednesday, try the Parmageddon special, it was so good. There's also a bottle shop on site. This hotel is a jewel in Emerald.

The Saltbush restaurant is not to be missed, and the staff there were so friendly. The motel rooms were great, comfortable, and good value. It's a beautiful place.

I love staying here. The beds are really comfortable, and the tavern meals are excellent. The pool area is clean and inviting. I also love the little cookies, hot chocolate packets, and complimentary disposable travel cups in the rooms. They make easy snacks to take with you.

We spent $75 on one meal, including a $12 slice of cheesecake that was soggy and old. The chips, steak, and spare ribs were cold. We'd ordered delivery to our room, but after 45 minutes I went to ask where it was and found they'd put down the wrong room number and left the food in the hotbox until I collected it. This is the second time we've had to chase a meal after a serious staff mistake. Not happy.

The basic motel room had thoughtful extras, including cardboard plates, bowls, and cutlery to go with the toaster and microwave, plus cookies for a cup of tea. There was separate shampoo and conditioner, and the reception staff were lovely. Dinner at saltbush restaurant was excellent, breakfast at the tavern was good and available from 5am, and the bottle shop had a couple of beers for us. It had everything we needed for an overnight stop, and we were very happy with the stay. The shower heads are too low, though, and softer pillows would have been better.
