The rest of the team were warm and helpful, which made Amber's attitude stand out. She was unpleasant and offered little help during dinner. I hope this feedback is useful, because her service took away from the good experience the other staff provided.

Being close to cafes and the yacht club was a real plus. The room itself was clean, with a comfortable bed and a hot shower, but mine looked out over the car park even though I had a good rate. The gym is very basic, and the place has more of a pokie venue or RSL feel than an interesting hotel. Fine for a three-star stay and better than a small-room motel, but the service isn't four-star and I expected a bit more for the money.

The staff were friendly, especially PETA, who was very good at her job. The room was small and basic, smelled awful, and the air conditioning wasn't working properly. The meals were dreadful too. We sent one back and got a refund, and the meal my husband ate left him on the toilet for the rest of the evening.

The bistro was nice for dinner, and our stay was pleasant apart from one late-night problem. After a wedding on Friday, I returned at 11pm with my elderly parents and parked undercover. During the day, the lift from there goes straight to the accommodation, but at night a locked iron gate blocked access to it. The swipe lock wouldn't accept our room cards, so my parents, who have poor mobility, had to walk around to the front entrance, up stairs and a hill. The detour took about 10 minutes, and with groups of young pub goers around, we felt vulnerable. My parents walk slowly, so it was a difficult end to the night. We'd booked five rooms and always managed to find parking, though sometimes it was in the open because undercover spaces were limited. The central location worked well for a night or two. The rooms were spacious and very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower pressure was fabulous. Reception staff were attentive when I raised concerns, and check-in and checkout were quick and easy.
