The Corinda Collection

The gardens were a pleasure to wander through, and choosing a drink from the well-stocked honesty bar was a real treat. Julian and Chaxi welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home for the whole stay. Our room was spotless, very comfortable, and decorated with care and good taste.

We were only at the Gardener’s Cottage for two nights, but would gladly stay again when we return. It’s in a peaceful neighborhood, with shops, restaurants, and major attractions just minutes away. The garden is lovely, and my five-year-old was completely taken with the hedge shaped with animal figures. The renovation kept so much of the cottage’s original character. I especially liked the old iron toilet cistern, the wooden floors, and the windows. It was an absolute delight.

The Veranda Room gave us a wonderful view of the tree canopy. We spotted lorikeets, currawongs, and noisy miners from the veranda, so birdwatchers would especially enjoy it. Bring binoculars. We had our own way out to the veranda, though it wasn’t technically private because there was another door from the central hallway. Still, we used it often and it felt private to us. The room had windows along two walls and glorious morning light. We think it was the finest room on offer. The stately home is in a beautiful historic neighborhood. Walking downhill to town took about 10 minutes; the uphill return wasn’t too hard, and a few times we used Uber for a modest fare.

We loved the delicious breakfasts on the gorgeous, sunny terrace, served by such lovely people. The gardens are delightful, and there’s something interesting to notice everywhere in this beautiful little boutique hotel. The owners were friendly and made us feel very welcome. The comfortable guest bar works on an honesty system too. Everything was perfect.
