Elite Gold Coast

I was really disappointed. The price felt far too high for what was on offer, and after moving to Meriton Suites Broadbeach for less, I got a room around five times larger with much better facilities. I wish I'd booked there from the beginning. The double bed was too small for two people, and at 6'1" my feet stuck out over the end. The mattress was old and uncomfortable, so we bought an air mattress to get some sleep. The Wi-Fi was practically unusable, and not one window opened for fresh air. There aren't many food options nearby, so you'll probably drive somewhere to eat. The location could work if you have a reason to be close, but I'd rather stay in Broadbeach and drive over if needed.

The manager brushed us off and told us to take it up with our bank. We'd asked for a $90 refund, and a $90 credit would have at least shown that someone cared, but nobody did. We were extremely disappointed and felt ELITE didn't care that we were ripped off booking their accommodation. We booked through Google Maps Australia. ELITE Gold Coast Carrara showed $183, and when we chose EXPEDIA, the price still clearly showed $183 AU all the way through the payment screen. We paid with our Mastercard and got a confirmation email for $183, with no indication it wasn't AU. A month later, our bank statement showed a $275 charge. We never book accommodation at that price. Expedia directed us to ELITE. The manager didn't seem to want to know about the issue. We contacted Expedia again and emailed screenshots of the booking and every page, showing the AU price through to payment. EXPEDIA said ELITE governed them and that we had to speak with ELITE. We went back to the manager and were fobbed off to our bank. We hope our bank can fix EXPEDIA changing the currency from AU to USD. It felt like a scam structure. DONT USE EXPEDIA ever again. VERY BAD.

We chose this place because we couldn't find a room closer to the venue we had to attend. I can see it being great if you're here for a sporting event. We were in room 226, and the gentlemen at the front desk were VERY HELPFUL. Housekeeping were accommodating too: we needed to get ready when the room was due to be cleaned, so the ladies came back later. Thank you. The bed was uncomfortable, and the carpet was dirty and stained. The cabinetry was okay, though a couple of shelves would help for stays of a few days. The bathroom was adequate for two nights, but water escaped the shower area, the basin was very small, and there was no towel brush. The bathroom door wasn't fitted properly and swung open unless fully closed. There was no language stand provided.

We found a real gem and had a great weekend. The place was clean, comfortable and well maintained, and the sports center access included for hotel guests was a nice bonus. We played a good round of mini golf to finish the day. We'll be back, and hope the staff keep it in this condition.
