Kirra Surf Apartments

Kirra itself is beautiful, and the view was absolutely stunning, so we still had a nice time. But would I stay here again if other accommodation were available? No. The apartment needs renovating and a deep clean. The second bathroom floor had hair all over it, the shower handle fell off, rust was everywhere, and the ledge for shampoos and other items was wobbly. The kitchen was good, but the dishwasher had nowhere for cutlery, so we had to hand-wash the knives and forks. The Miele appliances were old. The balcony was disappointing too, with cobwebs in every corner and animal droppings on the chairs and around the edges. We barely sat out there despite the view. The main bedroom and bathroom were quite nice, but the bath tap was rusty and wobbly, and things felt like they might fall apart when used. The woman at reception was lovely.

We had a spacious, clean apartment with a lovely view over the beach. Restaurants and shops are about a 10-minute walk away, and Coolangatta main beach is around 20 minutes on foot. The problem was two private pools just outside our windows. Other families were swimming there from 7am, and we couldn’t open the blinds because they would be looking straight into our bedrooms.

The apartment had everything we needed, with secure parking and a lovely pool. We absolutely loved our stay at Kirra and the amazing view. Looking forward to coming back in a few weeks.

The price definitely wasn’t justified, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The lobby and lift corridor smelled awful, like something had died, and a strong smell like an Indian meal lingered in our apartment for the whole stay. It didn’t feel clean, with grease on the stovetop and dust on the windowsills. A bathroom light and fan made a very loud clunky noise. They provided only sheets in winter, while the duvets in the cupboard were dirty and smelled. The skirting boards were chipped and needed fresh paint. We asked reception to make up one of the beds on the first day, but they never did.
