Ocean Pacific Broadbeach

The level 13 apartment had a sea view and the beach was an easy walk away. Ocean Pacific Resort is about five minutes from Pacific Fair and the Oasis shopping precinct, with Woolworths and lots of restaurants. The construction below didn’t bother us most of the time, but guests should know it starts at 6am. Some decor was dated and inferior quality, though I believe an upgrade is scheduled. Cleaning and towel quality are within management’s control and need closer monitoring. Even so, the stay was comfortable and represented value for money during school holidays.

The ocean-view apartment had a beautiful vista, and the facilities are great. It’s very central for shopping, the beach and plenty of places to eat. The downside was the construction site next door. Workers started making noise at 6:30am every weekday, so there was no sleeping in on this holiday.

Room 1801 on the 18th floor was fabulous, with a great view, clean room, effective air conditioning and very comfortable beds. The old leather lounge had seen better days. Jackhammering from the development next door was annoying, though outside their control. Parking is the reason we won’t stay again. In 40 years of visiting the gold coast, every place we’d stayed had a room number and assigned space. Here, you can use any space except those marked residents. We were told that when the hotel was completely full one night, we’d have to park on the street if nothing was available. That’s not what I paid for. Each time we went out, we had to search and hope there’d be a spot. It’s disappointing, because otherwise it was a great place.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the spacious room was comfortable with a very high standard of housekeeping. Pool, spa, gym and outdoor kitchen were all well maintained. The location was spot on, close to the beach, restaurants, bars and Pacific Fair. The light rail is a stone’s throw away for trips into Surfers or to Helensvale to catch a train to Brisbane airport.
