Sanctuary Beach Resort

Our ground-floor unit was spotless and had everything we needed, and the pool and its surrounds were clean and well looked after. David and Peter were friendly and attentive, always greeting us with a cheerful hello. The beach and boardwalk are right nearby, with the surf club and patrolled swimming beach an easy walk of a couple of hundred metres. Couldn’t fault it.

The gardens were gorgeous and the pool was warm and really clean. It’s in a brilliant location, and David and Pete were fantastic hosts. Five stars all round!

We had a great room and really enjoyed staying right by the beach. Being able to watch whales from there made the experience even better, and I’d highly recommend it. The complex is a bit dated, but it’s still awesome and you can see some investment going into it.

David and Peter go out of their way to help, and the resort is in an excellent spot by the beach. The stairs, though, made getting around hard for us seniors. From the garage to the units there are around 30 narrow, dark brick steps, with no lift or luggage trolleys. Carrying bags up to rooms across the three levels was difficult. There are no outside rubbish bins or chutes either, so taking rubbish to the garage meant repeated trips on the stairs. The steps are narrow, slope a little, and aren’t clearly marked. They were a nightmare for us. Brighter lights and yellow paint on the step edges would make them much easier to see, and seem simple and inexpensive to do. The resort is quite old, so the problems might be hard to fix, but they need attention for safety.
