The Penthouses - We Accommodate

The apartments are right on the beach, and ours had great views. Ling and her husband made our stay so good, and we’re very grateful. It’s an older style apartment that’s been renovated, so there’s lots of space. We thought it offered much better value than Chevron, where you pay twice as much for half the size. Add a gym to the building and it would be the perfect Gold Coast stay. We’ll be back, Ling.

The service desk man was polite and nice, and the location and views were fantastic. The rest of the stay was very disappointing. We were woken by construction around 7 am, and over our seven nights the five of us were given hardly any soap, toilet paper or other supplies. On day four, we asked for a replacement towel and were told no, unless we paid extra. The place wasn’t clean: cockroaches were flying around, and we found toys and socks from previous guests. The vacuum and dishwasher didn’t work, so we couldn’t clean up ourselves. The TV and wifi were also out of order. It felt like an Airbnb at best, not a hotel or serviced apartment, and still wasn’t good even by that standard.

Location was the only good thing about this stay. The apartment was badly run down and didn’t feel remotely like a penthouse, with cracks in the walls, filthy curtains and a generally neglected look. Cleanliness was unacceptable. The bedding had blood stains, dust and dirt, and clothes from previous guests had been left behind. When we told the front desk about the sheets and poor cleaning, they just said, “sorry, it’s busy.” That’s no excuse for basic hygiene. The stay was uncomfortable and disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone expecting a clean place, professional service or anything like a penthouse.

Management were wonderful and very helpful, and the ocean breeze was lovely. The location is exceptional, with some of the best views. The apartments are very large, comfortable and clean, though the rooms could use a little updating. I’d definitely stay again.
