We spent four nights in a two-bedroom apartment at the Regent Apartments and had a great time. It was very spacious, clean and well maintained, with complimentary tea, coffee and a little milk, plus a couple of laundry powder sachets. The kids loved having room to spread out, especially at the pools. We found the apartment comfortable and couldn’t fault it, and the secure undercover parking was handy. The quieter part of Surfers was just right for a family stay. The beach and Northcliffe Surf Club, with its good dinner and breakfast options, were both about five minutes away on foot. The tram station for Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach was also around a five minute walk. Highly recommended.

Next time you squeeze into that tiny hotel room on Cavill Ave, think of me sliding down the Regent waterslide, with 270 degrees of ocean views and enough floor space to start a cult. My engagement numbers don’t lie. “Regent Mediocrity, .Not Included!”
Our room was so awful for the money that I wish we’d never set foot in it. I felt gross inside the whole time, and we were there to relax, not clean and be uncomfortable. The place was dirty everywhere: the ensuite smelled and hadn’t been cleaned, there was mould on the ceiling, and the kitchen, cutlery and utensils were filthy. We had to wipe out the cupboards we used because there were crumbs and rubbish on the shelves. The carpets hadn’t been vacuumed, and things had just been swept under the couch and rug. The bathroom smelled too, the toilet was poorly cleaned, and the bath was too disgusting to use. The shelving was dusty, so I didn’t unpack our clothes. The bed was rock hard and uncomfortable, with two singles pushed together and no topper, so you could feel the hard edge down the middle. The bedroom TV didn’t work properly, the couch was uncomfortable, and the old shower only gave weak, lukewarm water. Our daughter had to shower in a relative’s room. Such a waste of money.
For $645 for three nights, I wasn’t expecting much. Other places I compared were over $800. But walking through the beautiful foyer and up to our apartment on the 12th floor was a nice surprise. It was modern and clean, with two spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, dining and living areas, a proper laundry and wraparound balconies with views of the ocean and river. The kitchen had everything we needed. Toiletries were minimal, but for the price and overall value, who cares? There was washing soap in the laundry, one soap in each bathroom, milk and one dishwashing liquid in the kitchen, plus a few tablets. The manager was really friendly and accommodating.
My four sons and I had a wonderful week in apartment 13D at The Regent. The indoor pool and sauna were great, and the outdoor pool has a slide. It’s a five minute walk to the beach, with easy tram access, and about 10-15 minutes on foot to Surfers Paradise main street. We even got to watch the Cats win the AFL GF to cap off the week. Amazing apartment!
