Waterways Luxury Apartments

We had plenty of room and great views of the Nerang river. Coles, cafes, restaurants and the beach were all within walking distance, though the ocean views weren’t great. Even on level 19, we could hear traffic from the balcony. The fittings were old and dated, so I wouldn’t call these high-rise apartments luxurious. The manager, George, wasn’t as bad as some people have found him. During our seven-night stay before x-mas, I mostly tried to avoid him, but when our flight was delayed on departure day, he kindly let us check out two hours late at no charge, even during a busy period. The location was great.

The lobby constantly smelled of cigarettes, and the manager always smelled of alcohol. The service was absolutely horrible. We felt the management ruined what should have been a perfect vacation. If you run apartments in Surfers Paradise, you should at least be polite to the visitors paying to stay there. Hiring a rude manager is a terrible idea. Find another apartment with better service than Waterways Apartment.

There’s no visitor parking because the tradies take it all, and there’s no ramp for a wheelchair, walker, or even an ambulance bed. I had to call an ambulance twice, and the only way to bring the bed in was through the basement. If there’s an emergency, good luck. Construction, drilling and renovations happen in most units almost every week. You get woken by the constant drilling and hammering.

We had booked two two-bedroom apartments, with two secure undercover parking spots, but our friends who had paid for their room were told they couldn’t park on site because we already had three cars. There’s visitor parking, yet we were told it was only for tenants. The guest information book says parking is available for your guests, and nowhere did we see that it was tenants only. The management’s attitude and conduct nearly ruined our beautiful Easter long weekend in Surfers Paradise. Ordinary situations turned into problems. They couldn’t use their own machine when it was time to pay, and said it was against the law for more than four people to stay in a two-bedroom apartment. We were asked to leave, even though it clearly said guests could use the sofa beds provided for the fee we’d paid. They were quite happy for us to look for a $300+ unit, when staying with our friends in this apartment was $35 each. In the morning I tried to raise my concerns, but they talked over me and told me to leave the premises. Find cheaper accommodation where your money is appreciated.
