Wings - We Accommodate

The booking process was confusing, with different prices and photos for what seemed like many different apartments. They only take bookings through independent third parties. I booked that way and heard nothing directly from the hotel, but they tried to charge thousands of dollars to my card without warning. Luckily, the payment was declined. I called because nobody had contacted me. A hotel representative said it was a mistake and someone would clarify things within a few days. When that person called, she said the full amount was due. I couldn't find anywhere in the booking process that said payment was required upfront. I would have been fine paying a deposit instead of thousands six weeks before the booking. The employee said she wasn't familiar with third-party booking processes, spoke over me, and more or less told me to try finding a similar property in my timeframe. The service was awful. I also can't understand trying to take an extra $1,000 for damages at a mediocre property. A damage bond is common, but there should be limits. I'm relieved I found a better property. It requires upfront payment, but it isn't dingy, has decent customer service, and is clear about its charges. Things might have gone differently if Wings had made a polite call before attempting to charge the full amount. Thanks, Kat at Wings, I feel like I dodged a bullet. You say you have lots of happy customers, but Booking.com rates you 6.5 out of 10.
