Riviere on Golden Beach

A lovely place to unwind and do your own thing. David & Bec are the nicest managers, and they’re so helpful. There are great ocean views, walking paths and a park right at the doorstep, plus a great pool and cafes close by. Highly recommend Riviere on Golden Beach. Thanks for our lovely week’s stay.

We first visited Riviere in 2004 and have stayed many times since. Our units have always been clean, with wonderful views from the front and back patios. Bec and David are friendly and helpful managers. Cafes, restaurants and supermarkets are all within walking distance across the road. We’ll definitely stay again.

We will not book again. Since the new on-site managers took over, we’ve had countless bad experiences, unlike with the polite and courteous managers before them. The Body Corporate and unit owners should know about these issues, including that management is in breach of the by-laws because the screens and doors don’t lock. In 2023, we reported a dangerous chair in our unit. My husband tested whether it was safe for breastfeeding our newborn daughter, and it collapsed, nearly causing an accident. Management blamed us and claimed our child had broken it. We returned in 2024 because the location suited our kayaking, despite that earlier experience. At check-in, we were rudely lectured about rules as though we were children. We also saw managers be rude to other visitors many times. Rebecca yelled at a woman checking out that she was “too busy to assist her” and didn’t even say goodbye. It was appalling. The balcony doors and screens wouldn’t lock. We reported this in 2023, but it still hadn’t been fixed in 2024. Within an hour of checking in, while we were still unpacking, management told me the locks were still broken and asked us to take photos. Why should a family on holiday have to photograph something that should have been fixed 12 months earlier? The unit was dirty when we arrived, so we used our own Dyson vacuum and immediately filled the whole canister with dirt and debris. The laundry smelled rotten, so we had to keep its door shut. Thick cobwebs in the main bedroom and living area needed a good sweep with a broom. It was worse than communal bathrooms I’ve used at outdoor campgrounds. We got conflicting instructions about visitor parking. We’ve been coming here for over 20 years without a problem, but new management suddenly pinged four separate families for breaking “rules” that didn’t exist before this year. Many permanent residents don’t seem to understand they live in a 'resort' and constantly complain about visitors. Management often smiled at visitors and then rolled their eyes behind their backs. We saw them do this to permanent residents and visitors. It became oddly entertaining to watch, like a good TV show. Management should remember there are mirrors in reception. In 2023, management insisted my husband had left the BBQ dirty, even though he hadn’t used it. They should pay more attention to keeping the units clean themselves.

The view over the sea was great, and every day brought lovely weather and exciting sunrises and sunsets. Eateries were also only a short walk away. The complex is wonderful, but the internet was slow and unreliable, with no high-speed connection. Our room got very cold at night. The small fan heater’s power cord became hotter than the heater after two hours. During our eight-day stay, the bedding was changed, but the bath towels weren’t. If those things improve, it’ll be a great place to stay.
