Goomeri Motel

You may hear trucks coming into town in the afternoon and early evening, though it gets quiet overnight. Check-in was straightforward, and the price felt like good value. I managed to get some sleep, even though the bed wasn’t that comfortable. The main letdown was hearing the party in the next room until 10pm. The walls aren’t as soundproof as in most motels I’ve stayed in.

The family room had plenty of space, but hygiene was a serious problem. There were cobwebs and a dead cockroach, the cups and utensils were filthy, and the tea towel was stiff as a board. The shower was so disgusting I only used it with thongs on, and the toilet didn’t look cleaned. I honestly felt like I’d slept in someone else’s sheets. There was also a cracked mirror at toddler height that could slice a child’s fingers. For a family room, that would have horrified me if I’d had young children there. The kitchen tap needs attention too. This was our first and last stay.

A handy place to break up my journey, with comfy beds and pillows. Management were very kind and thoughtful.

The rooms were spotless, and the price was very good. The location worked well too, close to the pub, bakery and specialty shops without being right on top of the pub. There’s undercover parking as well.
