The Astor Suites

I’m writing this at 4:01 am after having to come back home. I’d just moved to goulburn and didn’t have my portable aircon at the property yet, so I booked a room hoping to get a good night’s sleep. Something happened with the room’s electricity and it was off. I tried calling the hotel plenty of times but couldn’t reach anyone. That shouldn’t happen when you’re running a hotel. Sorry, but don’t book here, try somewhere good. At least I had electricity at home to run my fan.

I’ve stayed here four separate times for work. The rooms are basic, but they’ve always been clean and comfortable, and the staff are welcoming. Rachel and Simon helped with my enquiries, so a shout-out to them. It’s a comfortable hotel attached to a pub with great staff and amazing food. What more could you want?

The Chicken Snitzel from the bistro was juicy and cooked just right, and the drinks were icy cold. Check-in was easy, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. There was a toaster in the room but no plates or cutlery, which felt a bit odd.

The Astor Suites had a nice location, and I liked the large, modern room and comfortable bed. But a steady humming, almost machinery-like noise went on all night, and I didn’t sleep at all. Shame, because I otherwise liked the room. I can’t recommend it to anyone who needs a good night’s sleep.
