For the price, the rooms were what we expected: comfortable, clean, quiet and well located. We were riding the Central West Cycle Trail, so it mattered that we could keep our ebikes under cover. Charging them wasn’t possible, though an outside power point would help. A couple of hooks in the shower and wash room would also be useful.

The large backyard parking area came in handy, and the place was quite adequate as a starting point for a cycle tour. There’s no basic breakfast food provided. You need to collect the key from another pub, which I don’t think anyone told me about. I only found out by chance.

I regularly arrange motorbike and vehicle trips to outback towns, where our group spends money on meals, drinks and accommodation to support regional areas. I’ll be crossing this place off my list and won’t stay here or at its affiliated accommodation in town again. We’d booked and paid but couldn’t come because of circumstances outside the hotel manager’s control. My mate’s bike couldn’t make the trip, so I called to explain. The manager said it was bad luck because we’d already paid. I asked for a credit to use for a stay another time and was told no. The situation itself wasn’t the manager’s fault, but I was disappointed by the response.

The accommodation was very clean, and I felt safe staying there. It’s a true country hotel with a nostalgic feel, though I wouldn’t give it five stars. The parlour-style pub attached to the rooms was terrific, and there were plenty of food choices across the road. The old-fashioned Australian hotel style is quite special, with friendly locals. A fabulous place to stay.
