Flash Jacks of Gundagai

I treated myself to a night at Flash Jacks this trip, and the room was very clean with everything you'd want from a great hotel. The check-in process can be tricky, so be sure to check your email. I always stop in Gundagai when I'm driving past, and never miss the Dog on the Tuckerbox or a meal at the Niagara Cafe. You can't help but love this town.

The only little drawback was the bathroom light: to turn it on in the night, you had to activate the noisy fan as well. Everything else made for an amazing stay, and we’ll definitely return. The view and gardens were lovely, and there was off-street parking. It was an easy walk to the Main Street, with two pubs, shops and cafes. The pubs were busy on Saturday night, so booking is a good idea. Self check-in was easy, and the property guide and dining suggestions were really helpful. The heater was already on when we arrived. The room was spotless and had thoughtful extras, including two luggage racks, Leif toiletries, a kettle, coffee, little Biscoff biscuits, a fully stocked mini fridge, and wine and sparkling glasses. The king bed was super comfortable, with an electric blanket. The air con had a quiet night mode, and the huge shower had hot water and an enormous rain head.

The owner sorted out my booking mistake without any fuss. The place is beautifully presented and in a great spot in a lovely town.

The accommodation is beautiful, five stars. But after driving for six hours, we wanted to walk to dinner, and the only place open on Australia Day was the pub. It was a huge letdown. Will we stay in gundagai again? No.
