We booked midweek in February at the last minute, and there were still rooms free. The staff were kind and helpful throughout, and the price felt good for the location and heritage character. There was plenty of free guest parking, which let us keep exploring town after checkout. Our first upstairs room had a queen bed, a lovely street outlook, heritage features alongside modern touches, a small dining table, kettle, fridge and TV you could watch from bed. The bathroom was spacious and clean, with a spa bath and shower. When we found the spa jets wouldn't start, they moved us to an available upgraded room. That room was in the chalet area, where the outside still has its heritage look. We crossed a little bridge over what I imagine is a creek in wetter weather, then came to a secluded circular tree area with a couple of old antique wagons weathering away. The chalet had enough beds for four, a kitchenette with extra appliances and a small fridge/freezer. Its shower was over the spa bath, which was fine, and the larger bath's jets worked really well and made for a relaxing soak. I was a bit wary of water getting into the gaps where the bath could use some recaulking, but once it was full we could relax, then sleep in the very comfortable beds.

We spent a couple of nights here during a quick Adelaide getaway over the long weekend. Hahndorf's right outside, but the European-style cottages sit behind the car park, so it was still really quiet. Loved the stay and would definitely come back on another visit.

We stayed over Christmas in the Queen Room Upstairs. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom had lots of space, and parking was handy. The room had a lovely classic German feel. The air conditioning didn't cool it as well as we'd hoped, though. If you're bringing heavy luggage, it might be worth checking with staff first. We didn't have much with us.

Sara surprised me with a room upgrade at check-in, and I really love my spa room. Thank you, Sara! The Bistro was a lovely place to spend time, with music and TVs playing, and three big billiard tables if you feel like a game. James helped me pick the Roast of the Day, turkey with cranberry sauce. The turkey was moist and cooked just right, and the roasted vegetables were a great mix: parsnip, red peppers, zucchini and potatoes. It was one of the nicest roasts I can remember eating.

Our room light wasn't working, but Simone was kind and courteous about it. She offered an upgrade, though we needed to stay closer to our car and trailer, so instead she gave us our evening meal. That was wonderful. Thanks for being so thoughtful, Simone. Xxx
