Artisan Retreat

It was restful and welcoming, with quiet neighbours and a homely feel. We used the wood fire box, which kept the whole house warm for days and used little wood with the flue closed. There’s also electric heating and air-conditioning. The renovated weatherboard house is simple, and the separate converted shed serves as a creative retreat. WiFi and internet both worked easily. After walking the hilly tracks, the spa bath was a great choice. It has 10 jets set low in the water, at a very soothing height. It was my first spa bath of the year. About half the eateries in Daylesford and Hepburn were closed for winter, so the cafes, restaurants and coffee shops that were open had queues. We saved money by shopping at the specialist delicatessens and supermarket and eating at 'the retreat'.

Hepburn springs is a delightful, serene spot, a little away from the hustle and bustle of Dayelsford. The place has all the comforts of home, is beautifully decorated and has thoughtful little touches. There’s a great fenced yard for furry friends. If I can, I certainly hope to visit again soon.

Even our two fur babies loved the weekend away. The beds were so wonderful that I was surprised to sleep right through the night. We had an amazing time and are definitely booking again.

A gorgeous, comfortable place, and fabulous for a few days. Pet friendly too.
