You can ski straight in and out of the main door on the Big D run, which is hard to beat. The lodge was clean, warm and spacious, with comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. Other guests were friendly too, and there were plenty of laughs and drinks around the fireplace. It felt like staying with friends. The hospitality from Shane and Kimberley was a big part of what made the stay so good. They were warm and welcoming, engaged with adults and kids alike, and somehow remembered everyone’s names. Shane even paused in the middle of a busy morning to help my daughter with her ski boots and offer a few tips. They put a lot of care into the hearty, plentiful breakfasts and dinners, and did their best to adjust the menu to guests’ requests. Their homemade bread was so good that if bread were the only food left on earth, I’d check in for life. I rarely call a place perfect, but their hospitality exceeded expectations and deserves the praise.

After a stressful day snowed in, the lodge managers, Shane and Kim, turned things around for me and two others when we needed last-minute accommodation. They lent us dry clothes, showed us to an open fire and handed us a beer. We felt like part of the family. The lodge is in an amazing location and well appointed. With a cooked breakfast and two-course dinner prepared for you, it really feels like a holiday. I’ve never experienced hospitality like this before. Beautiful accommodation, beautiful people and a beautiful place. Sign me up!

Kimberley, Shane and their lovely girls made our stay at SCEG feel like home away from home, only with superior meals. Darryl, Fynn and I loved how delicious, comfy and welcoming it all was. Thank you for making our ski holiday so fantastic, and for working so hard to meet all your guests’ needs while making it look effortless. You should both be proud of what you achieve every day. The family-friendly lodge was spacious, warm and really comfortable, and we had a wonderful week at SCEG. Shane and Kimberley welcomed us from the moment we arrived. They’re superb chefs too, serving delicious breakfast and dinner. I highly recommend it!

The home-cooked dinners and breakfasts were one of the best parts of our stay. The food was like 4-5 star restaurant quality: herb-crusted lamb, chicken scallopini, cookies and cream cheesecake, butterscotch self-saucing pudding, freshly baked bread, and hot muffins or bacon and eggs cooked to order in the morning. After a day skiing, we loved sitting around the huge open fire. You can ski right from the lodge to Big-D, and the place was clean, comfortable and friendly. Kimberley and Shane worked incredibly hard, always smiling, and nothing seemed too much trouble. They were happy to sit with guests and have a laugh. My husband and I booked this at the last minute for a much-needed ski trip. We’d read the great reviews but weren’t sure what to expect. The hosts welcomed us like old friends, and it felt just like home away from home. We only have positive things to say about SCEG, Kim and Shane. Thanks for an amazing stay. We’ll be back!
