The Station

The bad reviews had put me off a bit, but that worry disappeared as soon as we arrived. The beds were comfortable, the showers warm, and the heating was great. The lounge wasn’t very comfortable, and there was no Wi-Fi in the cabins.

There’s a great bar, restaurant, and pizza shop on site, and the food was pretty good. I guess most people just ate there, but that could make the stay very expensive. There’s no microwave, so you can’t cook or reheat anything, and there isn’t even a bowl for cereal, so bring one. The rooms are dormitory style, but the beds were comfortable and clean, the shower was good, and everything was clean. I booked so we could get to the snow, and hadn’t realised it was about 10km from central Jindabyne. You’ll need a car, unless you can work around the infrequent shuttle bus.

It’s ultra basic, about as basic as you can get without camping, but it was clean and had good heating. I’d only recommend it for a group of 4-6, since splitting the cost makes the price per person ultra cheap and helps make up for the basic accommodation.

The location is the only good thing here. The price is outrageous for what feels like a cardboard box that smells of urine. You’d expect good heating right next to the snow, but we woke up shivering several times over our two nights. Reception was a joke, and when I called about a missing wallet, the customer service was lacking in every way. I’m extremely disappointed. The towels were paper thin, and they only provide a tiny bar of soap, no shampoo or conditioner. There’s no internet, and mobile service is non-existent.
