API Pelican Beach Front Apartments Kalbarri

There are nicer places we noticed on the drive into Kalbarri, and I'd choose one of those next time. This accommodation is old and dated, and I've stayed in better places for the same price. The advertised free wifi wouldn't connect, which was a real problem because our eldest needed it for school assignments. The shower head is so low that we couldn't fit underneath it, unless you're under 5 foot 3. A neighbour's dog barked whenever lights came on or anyone walked past, which made sleeping difficult. It's okay for a few nights if you mainly need a place to rest while exploring. We hoped to watch the pelican feeding right across from our chalet on the foreshore, but the pelicans must have found food elsewhere and didn't come during our visit.

Steve and Helen are on site and always available. They've made the gardens feel homely, and guests can pick the herbs growing there. There's everything you need for a good stay, plus an outdoor BBQ area that's lovely for relaxing.

During our stay, the caretaker, Steve, made us uncomfortable. I felt he was watching and following us through the window from the time we checked in, apparently to see how many people were there, which felt like an invasion of privacy. When a guest came to see us from a nearby appointment, his behaviour over parking was rude and unacceptable. It also felt racist to us. I wouldn't recommend staying here, and management should address this kind of customer service.

This was one of the worst places I've stayed. The caretaker banged on our door and spoke to us in a really rude, aggressive, and racist way. I understand everyone comes here to enjoy a holiday, but the apartment's policy seemed to mean we had to be asleep by 8. He could have raised it politely. I strongly suggest avoiding this apartment so your holiday isn't spoiled.
