The safari trip from Drysdale station was a highlight. Air Kimberly’s guide took us up to Mitchell Falls, with lunch and a swim, then we flew back over the scenery. It also meant we could leave our car off that road. The stay itself was perfect: every staff member was warm, chatty and smiling. We had a four-course meal, buffet breakfast, drinking water, tea and coffee, plus our own ensuite bathroom and a communal fire, all included in the price. You could buy beer, wine and a few stronger drinks at the bar.

That walk to Mitchell Falls belongs on your bucket list. The tents were luxurious, and Sid and his helpers somehow put out exceptional food in such a remote spot. Paula and her team were fantastic and happy to help with anything. This was the highlight of our holiday, such an amazing stay.

There’s a great swimming spot less than 100 m away, and parking and facilities were good. The food was very good too. Some tents have 240v power while others have 28v, so check which one you’re getting. My one complaint was that the smoking point was too close to the eating area, and the smoke drifting in was offensive. Glamping at its best otherwise.

We’ve stayed in lodges that were just as good as this one. The tented chalet was clean and well equipped, with a comfy bed and plenty of blankets for nights that got down to 8 centigrade. The food was excellent, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. It’s right in the middle of nowhere. Perfect.

The spring is lovely for a swim, and the outdoor dining area is a nice place to eat. The food was first class, prepared by a qualified chef. I loved the beautifully appointed tents and the unique bathroom. The best place ever for glamping, well worth going there.
