Wildes Boutique Hotel Kangaroo Valley

The beds were comfy, and the place is central with plenty of underground parking. Free nibbles and water were a big plus, too. It's a great little town with unique shops, and the restaurant is highly recommended. The food was superb.

We only stopped for lunch and didn't stay there, so this is just about the restaurant. The food was surprisingly great, especially the ravioli, one of the best dishes we had during our week-long trip to Australia. Service was great as well, and the staff were friendly and patient with our kids.

The room was immaculate, and the staff were lovely and kind, making us feel like locals. We arrived much later than planned because of traffic, and the welcome and check-in were easy. We were assigned an accessible room with ramp access, automatic bathroom door opening and closing, a fold-down shower seat and extended tap handles. We didn't particularly need those features, but they were thoughtfully provided. If you need an accessible room with full luxury, Wildes is a great choice. It's quiet, apart from the beautiful birds at dawn. Birdwatchers may be greeted by Welcome Swallows and, if lucky, spot a Gang-Gang Cockatoo across the road. The town centre is close by. We had a wonderful stay, thank you!

For the price we paid, we expected cleaner, better-presented accommodation and more welcoming service. The Valentine’s Day rate was significantly higher, and the room we got was very small and basic, with an odd layout: a large accessible bathroom and very few other amenities. The fridge was dirty and the milk had already been opened, which was unacceptable. We'd asked in advance about an early check-in because of a wedding, but communication was unclear and disorganised. In the end, they couldn't accommodate us, even though many other rooms were available early. There seemed to be other rooms available, so we couldn't understand why we were given what felt like one of the least appealing options at a premium price. The service came across as indifferent rather than helpful or welcoming. A disappointing stay, especially at that rate.
