Casablanca Beachfront Holiday Apartments

The balcony had a nice view and the beach was close, but we regretted booking as soon as we got to the room. None of the bathroom or toilet doors locked, and the front door was out of place so neither the press nor slide lock worked. We found several big cockroaches, stains and cracks on the walls and floor, grime on the fans and air con, and dirty cutlery and utensils. The beds were uncomfortable and felt moist, and the wifi failed about 90% of the time. When we arrived there was nobody at reception and our keys had been left out for us. Not a good place to stay, even if you see a good offer like we did.

Mark was wonderful. I had just come out of hospital and was still recovering, and he was very caring and even helped get my luggage to the car. The room was very clean and spacious, with lovely views and a fresh sea breeze. The location is great, right across from the beach. I come to Caloundra about four times a year for getaways, and this is right next door to my usual hotel, which costs about $300 more. I'll stay here from now on. Big thank you to Mark, see you soon.

The staff were friendly and the stay was comfortable and affordable, in a basic, older two bedroom unit with one bathroom. Renovations were going on during our visit in May or June 2024, and the pool seemed like it needed fixing. I don't think it was heated then. There was drilling and painting early in the morning. The apartments are up stairs, with no elevator.

We only weren't charged for the night we endured, which was the one positive. I left in tears and stressed out. We booked five nights because of the location and photos, but when we arrived there was no booking under our name. The manager was nice enough, but put us in room 13 and could only guarantee four nights at check in. The place felt very run down, and the office was a mess of old junk and reeked of cigarette smoke. The manager's presentation and the resort grounds showed no self respect. I expected more than this from a resort opposite the beauty of kings beach. It might suit people with lower cleanliness standards, but on holiday I want somewhere nicer than home where I can relax. This wasn't it. I wasn't going to write a review, but it's been on my mind, so here it is. The unit wasn't clean even by an average standard. There were hairs in the shower and on the sheets, while wet strings of dust and rust were coming off the air con. Kitchen items were unacceptable: a badly scratched pan bent nearly in half, a rusty toaster, old powder stuck in the dishwasher, a dirty cutlery drawer, a grubby fridge, and more. Thick oily smears were over the floor and surfaces. The furniture was grubby and bed bases were torn and uncovered. My toddler was sliding on the grimy floor, which felt unsafe. She was sick within two days, though I can't say the room caused it. We told the manager, who came to inspect. He knocked, then opened the door with his key and barged in, nearly hitting me in the face. He said this was decent for a 3.5 star resort.
