The location worked really well for us, with a big shopping centre nearby, Capt Cook pub for a decent meal, a train station close by, and buses out front. The room itself was good for us too: the bed was comfortable and clean, and the microwave, cutlery and kettle were clean and working. The chairs had seen better days, though, and the bathroom window screen was filthy. The toilet seat needs replacing. Having to wash takeaway dishes and cutlery in the bathroom sink wasn't great, since you don't know what it's been used for before. The receptionist was friendly and happy to provide anything we needed. The pool looked a bit green, so we used it but kept our heads above water. The BBQ was so dirty we wouldn't use it. With a bit more care and maintenance, this could be a great motel. It was a good option for a cheaper night at $150 cash per night, and we would stay again if we needed to.

We arrived to find out there were no rooms for us, even though I'd booked six weeks earlier. When I asked for an email confirmation, I was told there was no need because the booking had been written down, and that I could pay $160 cash on arrival for the best deal in town. I hadn't wanted to give details when booking, but I did ask for that confirmation. The whole thing felt strange, and I regret not trusting that feeling. The property was run down, and I wouldn't recommend anyone consider this motel. Stay away.

I urgently needed sleep, so I paid $180, but I won't stay here again. The room smelled of stale cigarette smoke even though smoking isn't allowed inside. The couch was covered in crap, the floor hadn't been cleaned, there was black stuff in our kettle, and I found hair in the bedding. When I raised the hair with management, she said another woman was cleaning while she recovered from surgery. I told her the grime looked like months or possibly years of buildup, and she had nothing to say. The bathroom was filthy too. Wiping the toilet seat with toilet paper left it black, and the floor had layers of grime. The shower's cold water wasn't working. The Wi-Fi was poor, which mattered because I was there with my autistic child.

At first the room seemed okay, and we were told our $160 cash booking included a luxury suite, Netflix, Wi-Fi, Stan and milk in the fridge. None of the milk, Netflix or other promised things were there, and the dishes supplied were dirty. The bathroom shower floor was black, though I could scrub it off with a very worn scourer. After we moved the bed, we found a Cheezel and a tonne of dust. Turning on the air-conditioning blew dust around the room. I tried to show the woman the room's condition, but she didn't seem interested in that, a discount, taking responsibility, or talking to the cleaners. She cried and then suggested I was racist. I told her I have coloured skin too. She told me to write my review and walked away. We stayed one night and arrived at 8 pm.

The staff were lovely and happy to help with anything. The rooms were clean, with new floors, and although contractors stayed there and left early, I wasn't disturbed at all. A great little motel, and I'd definitely stay again.
