Lake Eacham Tourist Park & Self Contained Cabins

The location is fabulous, just 1 km from Lake Eacham for swimming and lovely walks, and it was very quiet at night. I found this one of the most peaceful caravan parks I've stayed in, surrounded by nature. There were lots of lovely birds, and we even spotted a tree kangaroo high up in the trees. Staff were friendly and helpful. The shop and cafe are a nice bonus, though sadly they weren't open for morning coffee. There are good coffee shops nearby in Yungaburra and an excellent cafe at Lake Barrine.

For tent campers, I wouldn't recommend Lake Eacham Camping Ground. Our unpowered tent area was right beside the powered sites, so we could clearly hear caravan and motorhome generators at night. Cars arriving or leaving late drove right past the tents, which felt uncomfortable. We were the only tent campers, surrounded by noisy caravans and evening traffic, and the place felt busy. The facilities were fine but looked old and a bit run-down. There are positives: Lake Eacham is beautiful, the location is excellent, staff are friendly, and there's internet and a nice cafe on-site. But the Long Black I ordered tasted like instant coffee. If you're in a campervan, it should be okay. For a tent, I wouldn't recommend it.

The park has a great atmosphere and it's a nice place to relax. I've stayed twice, and both times the staff went above and beyond. On my first visit, they supported us while we dealt with the RAA, and once they even stayed open an extra 10 - 20 minutes to check us in. The amenities are very clean, with coin-operated washing machines and dryers.

The kids had a great time exploring the park gardens and looking for insects and little lizards, and the ducks kept them entertained too. For our first family camping trip, this was the perfect spot. The camp kitchen was well equipped, with plenty of seating and basic cooking facilities, and the showers and toilets were clean and well maintained. We'll definitely be back!
