Sonjas Bed and Breakfast

The unit was well supplied, with lovely decor, nice crockery and cutlery, good air conditioning and a pleasant outdoor area for cooking and eating. The gardens are lush despite the heat, and the place is clean, tidy and well kept. Easily the best place in Lightning Ridge. The downside was that after paying for two consecutive nights, our rooms weren’t serviced and supplies weren’t replenished. A lovely young staff member brought towels and supplies, but there was no room service. If you charge the nightly rate, service and supplies should be included, or later nights should cost less. There was also a repeated alarm from across the road, and parking was challenging when the place was full.

We had a lovely few days here. The room was very clean and well equipped, and the outdoor area out front was a relaxing place to sit in the cool of the evening. Thanks, Sonja, and your lovely staff member.

Such a cute little cottage, dog friendly for small dogs too, which made it even more charming. When I messaged the owner at 6 a.m. to say I’d accidentally locked my key inside while hungry and looking for breakfast, he got back to me really quickly. I’ll be back. This is the cutest cottage in LR.

The bed and linens were clean, which I appreciated during my one night in the Opal Suite. The room was pretty basic, with very outdated decor. It got really cold overnight, and the air conditioner/heater barely helped, probably because the building is old and poorly insulated. I didn’t use the shower because it wasn’t very clean, and there weren’t any decent toiletries. The walls are thin too. I could clearly hear quiet conversations in neighboring rooms, which was quite disturbing. It was okay for one night, but if I come back to town I’ll definitely look for somewhere better.
