Elysian Luxury Eco Island Retreat

The people made a big impression on us. Everyone we met was kind, attentive, and helpful without hovering, and it was clear the staff and owners cared about their guests. The yoga instructor, whose name I’m sorry I can’t remember, even helped us feel comfortable snorkelling for the first time. That was really generous, and we had fun seeing a ray, a reef shark, coral, and plenty of fish just off the beach at low tide. We spent four nights at Elysian Retreat over Christmas. It was one of my most memorable trips, even though it was short. The island was beautiful and the weather was pretty good. It was very hot, but the room’s air conditioning was powerful and there was plenty of water, despite being told it wasn’t abundant. Dinner was consistently tasty, especially the mains. There was a different dish every day, and the meals were high quality. Maybe my taste isn’t as mature as some people’s, but I’ve been to plenty of lovely restaurants and was impressed. The retreat is lucky to have those chefs, they added a lot to our stay. Our Whitehaven beach snorkelling trip was great too. I got badly sunburned and hurt my ear a little, but I’d do it again, probably with less ambitious diving. A few little things could be better. The bathroom and bed were cleaned well, but the floor seemed to need mopping and vacuuming. Some requests took a few reminders, including our Whitehaven trip, which we asked about on arrival and had to follow up on before the arrangements were confirmed. It didn’t cause us a problem, though I can imagine it might bother some guests. The bathroom door handle was badly broken and barely hanging on, but that wasn’t much of an issue for my fiancée and me. The lighting felt intimate, though brighter, energy-efficient LED bulbs might help with visibility at night. These were small points in a wonderful stay. From stepping on and off the wharf at Daydream island, I felt at home and well looked after. I haven’t had that experience even at well-known five-star hotels. It really is all inclusive, and I highly recommend it.

The Whitehaven beach snorkelling day trip was a highlight of our honeymoon, and we looked forward to every meal, especially with food that was restaurant quality. The Elysian team were amazing and I couldn’t fault them. We had the most wonderful stay and will be back. Thanks again to Tracy and team!

The staff really care about making your stay special. They organised a fantastic proposal and spared no expense. The resort is stunning and exclusive, with incredible views, immaculate rooms, and generous gourmet meals. It’s a truly special place, highly recommend.

Chef Nick made incredible food every day, and all the staff were so friendly and kind. It’s a stunning island with a peaceful eco resort, a perfect escape from everything. If you can, choose the villa with the private pool and deck. Helicopter in!
