I’m writing about my recent stay because I left deeply disappointed and uncomfortable with the overall environment and management. There was one person who stood out positively: Nathan, the cleaner. He was welcoming, professional, kind and genuinely helpful from the moment I arrived, answering my questions and trying to make me comfortable. His manner showed the hospitality I would expect here. My experience with Hew, the house manager, was the opposite. When I arrived, he appeared to be asleep on the couch in the common area. Nathan let me in and tried to answer my questions, but Hew abruptly and harshly reprimanded him just for interacting with me. Seeing a staff member berated publicly and aggressively was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. During my stay, I observed behavior toward staff and guests that seemed cruel and demeaning. When I struggled for about six minutes to turn on the stove, I asked three times before Hew reluctantly got up to help. His dismissive attitude and unwillingness to assist were unacceptable. The living room television was consistently blasting at an extremely high volume, whether Hew was awake or asleep on the couch. It made the common area disruptive and uncomfortable, adding to an environment that felt chaotic rather than welcoming. I was also disturbed by a camera in the bedroom area and a rule requiring a light to stay on 24 hours a day. The capsules had only a cheap pull-down shade that let light through, making it very difficult to rest. I can only sleep comfortably in darkness, and being told how I had to sleep felt intrusive and unreasonable. The camera in a sleeping area made me even more uncomfortable. Taken together, these experiences made the place feel hostile, unsettling and unprofessional. No guest or employee should feel demeaned or uncomfortable. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, and would appreciate a response addressing these concerns and explaining what steps will be taken to ensure a more respectful and professional environment.
