Apartments On Lygon

The location is a real plus, with trams nearby, so it’s a shame the apartment was in such poor shape. The rooms smelled of stale beer and smoke, the carpet needs replacing, and the dishwasher was unusable because of its smell. There were broken chairs at the dining table, cobwebs on the ceilings, and a filthy toilet floor. We were promised breakfast, but a packet of cornflakes, six eggs and three rashers of bacon for five adults over four days was nowhere near enough. When we complained, the woman didn’t inspect the apartment and only said we could get our money back and leave. I hope they improve things.

We wanted somewhere away from the busy parts of town, and this turned out to be a treat. The rooms had exactly what we needed, and the staff were fantastic. They knew the area well and were more than willing to help guests. For the service, the price was exceptional. I’d recommend it highly.

The staff we booked in here left that same night because the rooms were so dirty they wouldn’t sleep in them. There was hair in the bed, the linen and bathrooms were dirty, and we were told there’d be no refund because the bed had been turned down. After finding a pubic hair in it, I wouldn’t expect my staff to remake the bed. I have eight photos of the room. Horrid. Hard to believe a business in this state is still operating.

The location is great, but that’s where the good points end. Don’t rely on the photos. We were horrified by the first apartment we saw, then shown another that was only mildly better. A full refurbishment could make the place great. The patios are dire, basically a small table in a carpark behind Lattice. Walls were scuffed and stained, with damaged paint everywhere, and there was rust in the bathtub. The twin room door only opened about a third of the way before hitting a bed. Its view was a tiny fenced yard full of leaves and piled branches. The couches were dirty and very worn. It had clearly been cleaned, but the place is past the point where cleaning can fix it. Management refunded two of our three nights, and wotif refunded half of the first night.
