Atlantis Hotel

The room was decent, and the central location and helpful staff were positives. Still, at 150 AUD a night I expected fewer hassles. Twice, on the second and fourth nights, we had to return to reception because our key card stopped working. It turned out the original check-in hadn’t set it for all four nights, and the person who reactivated it made the same mistake. The air conditioner was loud enough that we left it off while sleeping, so the room stayed warm. Wi-Fi was also unreliable, and we used mobile data most of the time. If you need a dependable connection for work, this may not suit you.

Getting around was easy from here. Marvel was about a 10-minute walk, Southern Cross station roughly six minutes away, and Coles was across the road. DFO was nearby too, and trams run right out front. It worked especially well for our concert plans, and we could walk to everything we needed. The staff were welcoming from check-in through to departure, and nothing seemed too much trouble. After a housekeeping hiccup, we were upgraded, and our checkout time was extended to 11 am, which was handy after a late night. We didn’t use the decent-sized pool, though they did provide extra pool towels at no cost. Can’t fault the stay. We’ll come back sometime. We made good use of the breakfast each morning. It was simple but nice, and guest parking was a real help since we drove in. The rooms were basic, though clean, comfortable, and fully equipped. The team, from reception to housekeeping, were amazing: helpful, respectful, and very professional. We spent seven nights at the Atlantis Hotel and loved how central it was for exploring Melbourne. The check-in staff were a delight, and for what we paid during Australian Open, this was a five-star stay for the price. The room wasn’t especially modern, but it was clean and comfortable enough. Getting around was easy, although this end of the city didn’t feel like the nicest area.
