Avani Melbourne Jazz Corner Residences

The bed was very comfortable, and the room was a decent size. We could step out onto the balcony to look over a park, and the location made it easy to walk into central Melbourne. Getting there by car was easy too. Parking was a challenge. The carpark is small, with tight corners, and we regretted Thrifty upgrading us to a bigger car. The kitchen was also very limited, really only set up for breakfast: one frying pan, one pot and no oven trays. Supplies were sparse too, just one dishwashing liquid and one dishwasher powder. With QV markets so close, the lack of kitchenware was disappointing. We still managed to cook veal cutlets, white asparagus and duck breasts during our stay.

The bed was probably the best I've slept in apart from my own, and it was surprisingly quiet. I've had much worse stays in Melbourne. But the kitchen was the reason I booked an apartment, because I needed to cook, and it was a problem. The fridge was smaller than my backpack, barely enough for a litre of milk and a few pieces of fruit. There was no knife for cutting vegetables or fruit, and no salt, pepper or washing liquid. Basically, you'd have to buy everything, even if you only needed a tiny bit, just to do anything in the kitchen.

Getting around Melbourne was easy and cheap by tram from this location. The bed was comfortable, and having a washing machine in the room was handy. We booked the 32 sqm room and found it a good size. Reception also sorted out a couple of requests very quickly. Thanks, Angel!

Vedika was incredibly kind and efficient, and went out of her way to make sure I was looked after. I’m grateful to both Vedika and Himasha for their professionalism, attention to detail, and warm welcome. Their service made my stay much more enjoyable, and they’re a real asset to the hotel team! 😊
