Bell Motel

The location was the only good part for me. The room was old and dirty, with hair on the bathroom floor, a brown toilet bowl, grimy corners and edges, and shower grout that needed a serious scrub. I asked management to clean it again, but someone just wiped the floor with a towel. No vacuum or mop? The pool was green, though we hadn’t planned to use it. I wouldn’t stay again or recommend the place.

The bathroom was filthy, with mold at the top of the shower and on the extractor fan. There were no towel rails or toilet roll holder because both had broken off. Towels were supplied, but no face cloths. Dust had collected behind the bed and bedside tables, and a hole in the wall had just been covered with plaster, with no proper finish. We booked two nights through Whatif.... and had to push hard to get a change for the second night. The promo pictures suggested there was a breakfast and coffee service in the dining room, but there was no dining available. Give this place a wide berth, folks.

The hospital was nearby, which was the main thing I needed, and for the price the room was okay. There was a dead cockroach on the floor, and the TV barely picked up reception, so I had to fiddle with it to get channels. The wall above the bed had dirty handprints that looked like massage oil or something similar. Still, it did the job for one night close to where I had to be the next morning.

A handy, cheap place if you mainly need somewhere to sleep and aren’t fussed about the view. The rooms had the essentials and the linen was clean. The whole place could use a freshen-up, but it was a good little random spot to stay. The shower pressure was exceptional, a real plus.
