The location is great, the beds are comfortable, and on my previous stay I had no problems. This time I spent almost two of my five days in bed sick, which I believe was due to the hotel neglecting the air conditioning system. As shown in the picture, it was covered in mould and bacteria. I didn’t think there would be a problem after my earlier trouble-free visit, and only noticed the issue when I woke with flu-like symptoms. What I’d been breathing in was disgusting, and I’m now fighting a chest infection. I emailed the hotel twice and still haven’t had a response or any accountability. I would have let them make up for the five-night stay, but they haven’t responded, which makes it seem like they don’t care. The hotel is in a nice, quiet part of the city where you can sleep peacefully. My concern is the serious health and safety hazards, which don’t seem to meet Australian laws.

The bed was comfortable and I liked the shower, but there were two large stains on the carpet and a strange smell in the room. My view was of the rubbish bins, and the noise was awful. Every time someone emptied something into the bins, I woke up, so I didn’t sleep. What a shame.

Brady Hotel Jones Lane is in a really central, convenient spot. We were there for my partner’s birthday, and I’d asked for a higher floor because I’m a light sleeper. Some staff were friendly, but check-in was disappointing. The room had hair on the floor, mould in the shower, and a faulty shower. Our room card stopped working too, and staff didn’t handle that well. We could also hear the garbage truck on the 9th floor. The hotel has potential, but the service and housekeeping need to improve to match its concept and location.

The beds were good, the room was clean apart from mould in the shower, and some of the staff were nice. But the room wasn’t like the marketing suggested. The balcony felt like a prison cell, facing neighbours only a few metres away. Our rooms on the middle and lower floors got almost no sunlight and felt damp and dark, with things worse the lower we went. The photo was taken all the way up on 12th. The air conditioning barely worked, and the bathroom layout often let water flood out when we showered. The balcony rooms face a back alley beside a garbage disposal area, so people on that side may be woken by it. Shower pressure was weak and both temperature and pressure kept changing. I asked them to check it; they replaced the shower head, which did nothing to fix the problem. The reception lady at check-in was rude. Internet was somewhat poor.

A practical room with a kettle and tea, a good bed, and a nice bathroom. It can have a table. The view was of a building where you could see workers, but it didn’t bother me. Melbourne Central is close for shopping, and there’s a nice laneway below with some restaurants to check out. The staff were nice too.
