The cauliflower steak was delicious, though I’d have liked to see a vegetarian option on the specials menu. The building is beautiful, the atmosphere is nice, and there’s a good choice of vegetarian meals. The pumpkin gnocchi looked tempting, but I couldn’t pass up the cauliflower.

We didn’t stay at the hotel, just stopped by one evening for some tasty beers on tap. The staff were welcoming and the service was great. Drinks were very fairly priced, so I’d recommend coming for those. We were also told the beers and wines are all locally sourced, which is always a plus.

We came for a comedy festival show and had the $19 lunch beforehand. I wasn’t sure at first about bringing my little one, since the place doesn’t seem designed for children, even though there’s level entry, a lift, a kids’ menu, and drawing materials. The staff were ready to accommodate us on the spot, though, and that meant a lot. The seating was comfortable, the food was nice, and the entertainment was good. What more could you ask for at a bar hotel?

We found this gastropub while the tram works were going on along Vic st, and I’m glad we did. The inside decor is stunning, and the food and service were great. The $29 parma and fries were cooked perfectly. The salad came with an interesting sauce, though I’d have been happy with olive oil. The $30 pasta special came with two toasted baguettes, which was a nice surprise. I’d go back to try some other dishes.

We stayed at CCH for two nights shortly before leaving Melbourne, and it was a lovely place to stay near the CBD. The room was gorgeous, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was heavenly. The restaurant downstairs serves affordable food that’s great quality. I’d highly recommend it.
