Collins Street House in Red Hill

The house was advertised as set up for entertaining, but we felt that description was completely off. We ended up escaping the house for most of each day. Red Hill is beautiful, but the accommodation wasn't. We wanted a comfortable family holiday in beautiful surroundings, not a “rough” trip like camping. My family makes a point of setting time aside from busy schedules for our annual holiday together, and the house was a letdown. You said it could accommodate 14 people. It may sleep that many, but it certainly doesn't comfortably accommodate 14. Each night my husband and I heard some creature scratching in the ceiling and wall above the front bedroom, which had a very small ensuite. The bathroom and laundry facilities were inadequate, and the cooking facilities and sleeping quarters were very poor. The closet space in every room was totally inadequate too. The advertised enhanced clean was sub-standard. The house constantly smelled dusty, and two of my grandchildren had to use their Ventolin inhalers. We didn't use the coffee machine, which was proudly advertised, because it needed descaling. We didn't use the bath either. Please make it clear to guests, and recommend that they bring their own drinking and cooking water.
