Coppersmith Hotel

We didn’t expect much, but Thursday night turned out to be such a great stay that we rebooked for Monday. The late check-in was easy after they rang and explained what to do. In the morning they treated us to an F1 breakfast and coffee, which was so good. The king room was even better, and a late checkout was no problem. I had the best sleep. It’s a really lovely quaint hotel, and the crew made our time in Melbourne. We’ll be back.

I’ve usually had lovely stays here when visiting MLB for work, but this visit let me down a bit. There was a small cockroach when I entered the room, and the kettle hadn’t been cleaned properly, with dried coffee left inside. Apart from those two problems, it’s still a good accommodation option.

The food was nice, which made the rest especially disappointing. Our order was wrong, and we initially thought we’d made the mistake until we saw a sign and realised they had overcharged us too. When I raised it, a red head girl seemed frustrated, wouldn’t listen to what I was saying, and was unbelievably rude. She didn’t return the extra money I’d paid. I would have liked to come back, but I never will because of her.

The fish and chips were watery and tasteless, as if the fish had been defrosted, and barely edible. The meat in the madman curry was so unrecognisable that I couldn’t tell it was meat. The food could hardly have been worse. I can’t understand how a cook or chef can serve food at this level. They should be ashamed of offering such bad food.
