Coppin Apartments

The building looked beautiful, so we thought the reviews might be wrong. They weren’t. We got no customer service at all. When we asked for the queen bed we’d booked in the second room instead of two singles, they told us to deal with it. We were also told to put up with cockroaches, mould and hair in the shower, crushed cockroaches and glass on the kitchen floor, rubbish outside the small balcony, gum squashed on the bathroom floor, and cockroaches in the fridge seals. The cleaning was terrible. They said we couldn’t speak to the manager and gave us an email address, while saying the owner wouldn’t respond anyway. The conditions were unhygienic, and we’re still waiting for the owner to answer our emails. Terrible service, and our whole night was ruined. Don’t stay here.

The apartment we were given was disgusting. There was mould in the bathroom, broken cupboards, and a filthy, buckled carpet. The ceiling was broken and held together with tape, and the bathroom tap made an absurd hammering sound. The toilet seat was absolutely vile. Management was no help at all. I’d give less than one star if I could. Beware, don’t stay at this decrepit hotel.

We booked this property, the old Quest Gordon House, because it was near the theatre we were going to. After checking in, we went to the theatre and out for dinner. When we returned, our key card wouldn’t get us into the property. Half an hour later, at 10.45pm, we got in by following other customers, but the card still wouldn’t open our room. There was no phone number to call anyone at the property or on the web page. After an hour in the cold with no idea what to do, we had to pay for accommodation elsewhere. All our belongings were locked in the room, and we couldn’t get to them. The next morning, nobody apologised. They just told us to email reservations to ask for a refund. We love this place and are so disappointed.

My Grandfather picked this hotel because it was close to his appointment. He told them when booking that he was legally blind, but they gave him a room only reachable by unmarked, unlit, dangerous staircases. When we asked for a room accessible by elevator, they refused. I had to guide my grandfather down the stairs with my phone torch. Poor effort.
