The rooftop bar food was delicious, especially the prawn cocktails and pork belly arancini, and the buffet lunch had a good range. Breakfast was good too, with great coffee. From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. They also had no problem moving us to a room near our daughter and her baby.

We enjoyed our first stay so much that we changed our plans and came back later. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious with a big selection, and the staff were friendly and professional throughout, always going out of their way to help. I'd definitely recommend this place for a trip to Melbourne.

The young woman hosting at the rooftop bar was especially pleasant and brought us drinks. The room was neat, tidy, and clean, and reception staff were helpful and efficient. We were in town for two nights to see friends and do some sightseeing, and would stay again. The only snag was at checkout: they asked us to pay for breakfast on our arrival day, even though we checked in during the afternoon. We had to push back, so that cost a star.

The standout for me was the bed. The Marriott bed, pillows, and bedding were incredibly comfortable, and the spacious Deluxe King room had a big couch at the foot of it, lots of storage, and a safe. The bathroom was very clean, with a roomy shower, bench seat, and both handheld and rain shower options. There was also a good iron in the room. The location worked well for me: Docklands and the Parliament end of the CBD were walkable, and trains and the free circle trams were only a couple of blocks away. The gym met my needs. Breakfast had a good buffet, clear dietary labels, and barista coffee included. There is a ground floor cafe and a restaurant upstairs where breakfast is served. I didn't get to eat there this time, but the menus looked good and reasonably priced. I really liked the modern, warm decor in grey and light wood. Big prints of Flagstaff Gardens, half a block away, made the rooms and hallways feel fresh even on gloomy Melbourne days. The Level 17 rooftop bar also had a Chandon Rooftop Summer partnership, a nice option for warm evenings. For a Marriott property, it exceeded what I expected. I'll be back, and would recommend it to business travellers, solo visitors, or families.
