Eltham Gateway Hotel

We were moved three times, and every room was just as filthy as the one before: stained bedding, sticky floors, bathroom mould, and a horrible smell that made it impossible to relax. The whole place felt neglected and unhygienic. After the first complaint, staff still made no effort. There was no apology or sense of responsibility, and no basic cleanliness anywhere. This was honestly one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It needs a complete deep clean and a change in management before it should be open to guests.

We didn’t get the room we booked because, apparently, they were all taken. They put us in a different room and didn’t refund the price difference. It stank, with old food crumbs on the floor, dust everywhere, mould in the bathroom, and a blood stain on the sheets. Absolutely wouldn’t recommend it. We won’t be back.

Our family room was dirty, with dust on the utensils, scribbles and dirt on the walls, and broken bits of furniture. When I asked the manager for a tea towel so I could wipe the dishes, he was rude and scoffed, saying that was the cleaning staff’s job. It was AO and basketball tournament time, so everything was booked. Otherwise, I would have left straight away.

I felt really unsafe here. Guests two rooms away kept talking loudly, drinking and smoking on the walkway from midnight until 2 am. I had to get up twice to ask them to quiet down. The place was old and dirty, with big clumps of dust behind the furniture. The TV was ancient, only got a few channels, and its remote didn’t work, so there was no way to watch anything else. There weren’t even glasses for water. Horrid.
