Forget Me Not Cottages

We arrived on the 8th of January to a filthy, run-down place with uncut grass. They wouldn't let us check in before 3pm, even just to drop our luggage. When we opened the spa in the music room, it was full of mold and smelled so bad. I tried to clean it, but it was too bad and we decided not to use it. The bed had pube hair and sand in it, and the whole room was dusty and dirty. It was an awful place, and what we got wasn't worth what we paid. A week later, we got a call demanding an extra $500, claiming we'd soiled the bed, which we did not do. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay there. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

The green room was peaceful and cosy, and there was a hot spa ready when we arrived. Breakfast supplies were included, eggs, bread, ham, fruit and yoghurt, to cook yourself, plus a complimentary bottle of wine. The spa was old but did the job. Judging by other reviews, people may have been in a different cottage. It’s a cottage, so leaves and bugs come with it, and you can't expect boujy at the price. I'll definitely stay again.

We'd stayed here before, so the drop in standards was disappointing. For the nightly price, the breakfast and welcome pack products were well below standard: cheap wine, bread in zip lock bags and food past its use-by date. There was no hand towel, and only two towels for two nights, including for the spa. Such a shame to see a beautiful accommodation fall to this low level.

The music room is our favourite getaway. We come at least once a year, and every visit has been fantastic. Highly recommend.
