We had a fantastic stay at Hyde Melbourne and would definitely return. The room was beautifully designed, very clean and so comfortable, especially the king-size bed, which gave us a great night’s sleep. The location is superb, with easy access to everything in Melbourne.

The rooftop area is stunning, and there’s even a reformer in the gym, brilliant. The location is at the east end of the CBD, a short walk from Collins St, Bourke St Mall and QV. My room was clean, comfortable and beautifully presented, and the staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout. The shower pressure was amazing, very important, and the complimentary water and snacks were refilled each day, a nice touch. A few things could be better. The lighting in the room is incredibly dark, definitely not suitable for women trying to do their makeup. I should’ve brought my own lights, or perhaps a dimming switch could be considered. Slippers would be nice too, because of germs from people walking on the carpet in outside shoes. Breakfast was pretty average for a 5-star hotel, with minimal options. They weren’t very accommodating when I asked for changes because I’m gluten and dairy free. A buffet would’ve been a much better option.

The bed was extremely comfortable, and I slept very well. The room’s design has a distinct Melbourne style, with a unique, modern look, and the location is convenient, close to public transport, attractions, cafes and restaurants. Overall, I had a comfortable stay. At night, though, noise from the nearby bars could be noticeable, especially late in the evening. Light sleepers might find it bothersome. The room was also quite dark, and the dim lighting made makeup difficult even with the blinds fully open. The outside of the window was a bit dirty, which took away from the impression. Breakfast was disappointing compared with the rest of the hotel. There were limited choices and most add-ons cost extra, so it didn’t feel like good value. I ate there only once and went elsewhere the next day, where there were many better options nearby. I’d consider staying again, hoping for a brighter, quieter room next time.

I had a great two-night trip at the Hyde and had been wanting to go for ages. The lifts were quirky, with a great system, and the rooms had their own unusual touches, especially the shower. I loved having a separate toilet. As a platinum member, I found a lovely welcome card and gift in my room. It was great having a rooftop bar, a restaurant downstairs and what seemed like a speakeasy bar in the basement called Mr Mills. I had a beautiful cocktail there.

Hyde Melbourne Place has become my go-to in Melbourne for both work and leisure. It’s a gorgeous hotel right in the heart of the CBD, and my experiences with the staff have been entirely positive. Everyone I’ve met has been genuine, friendly and incredibly helpful. Anna at Marmello deserves a special mention. If you’re lucky enough to meet her, you’ll see why. I know the hotel has had negative feedback about staff and noise. The noise concern has some merit: street sounds come through at times because the window seal isn’t fully secure. I like being able to open the window for fresh air, but the seal could use improvement. Sometimes it sounds like the window is still open even when it’s shut. Even across several busy weekends, it hasn’t affected my sleep. I love the attention to detail in the amenities. Everything from the minibar to the bathroom products is Australian owned and made, and the quality is excellent. Stylish, comfortable, warm service and thoughtful touches keep bringing me back.
