Lanson Place Parliament Gardens

I travel for work a lot, and it’s rare to find somewhere that feels as comfortable and thoughtfully put together as home. Lanson Place exceeded my expectations, and I’d gladly stay again. The restaurant had excellent food and a relaxed, sophisticated atmosphere that made eating alone comfortable. I happened to be there for Jazz night on Tuesday. Staff throughout the hotel were warm, professional, and welcoming. The gym is one of the best I’ve used in a hotel, and my spacious room felt more like a stylish apartment than a hotel room. It was beautifully designed, and the bathroom was exceptional. The deep bath, with salts and a sponge, was just right after long days. Luxury without feeling pretentious. Highly recommended.

There were still a couple of amazing crew members who have been there since the beginning, and they helped make the stay better. But the hotel’s standard has dropped a lot since it first opened, and we had a few other unpleasant experiences. I’m extremely disappointed with how this incident was handled and will think twice before booking Lanson Place in Melbourne again. Please check your card for incidental charges before checkout. My stay ran from 27 April to 4 May, and although I settled everything at checkout, the hotel had charged my card on 27 April without my acknowledgement. When I asked for an invoice, I found I’d also been overcharged at the restaurant. That amount was credited back, but my request for a full AUD 20 refund so I could pay with another card was ignored. On 5 May, the hotel said it would process the refund, but it never did. The card details link they sent showed a higher amount. I told them, and they didn’t respond. The screenshots were taken on 3 June, almost a month after checkout.

The hotel was wonderful, but the staff are what made the stay outstanding. Everyone, from the front desk to breakfast service, was warm, attentive, and went out of their way to make it memorable. Nikola from breakfast service was especially thoughtful and personal. Their professionalism, friendliness, and care for the details made a real difference. I stayed from 25-28 April 2026 and wouldn’t hesitate to return. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Melbourne.

The bar downstairs had great food and a lovely atmosphere, and the convenient location made it easy to get around and explore. Breakfast was very enjoyable, the facilities were excellent, and the staff were friendly and professional throughout, which made the stay even better. This is honestly my favourite hotel I’ve stayed at in Australia so far. I’d highly recommend it.
