LUCY Stylish City Vibe and Views

Our one-bedroom premium apartment on the 17th floor was a lovely, roomy and comfortable haven after exploring the city, with amazing views across town. It was beautifully clean and serviced daily. The kitchen and bathroom were great, though the shower is over the bath and the step in is high, which could make it difficult for some guests. The location was excellent, with easy walking and tram options. The Mantra team were caring, inclusive, friendly and professional, and nothing felt like a problem. We had a perfect long weekend. 11/10.

My wife and I picked this hotel for convenience, and it was close to everything we needed: the theatre district, Chinatown and public transport. The staff were warm, helpful and friendly. They even did a few thoughtful little things after learning it was our wedding anniversary. I’d recommend this hotel in a heartbeat.

We come back to the Mantra every year for the Antipodes Greek Festival weekend. We perform there, mostly voluntarily, and the team has been accommodating and helpful with the things we need to make our stay easier and more enjoyable. Special shout-out to Aditya (Adi) Shah.

A few things could be clearer for guests. Online, the hotel says a range of Foxtel channels are available, but there aren’t any. Reception explained that Foxtel can only be watched through your own mobile device using Chromecast, which is only useful if you have a subscription, something international visitors are unlikely to have. The listing should be updated. We stayed ten nights and had room servicing just twice. On one occasion, coffee, tea, sugar and toilet paper weren’t replaced, so staff had to come back. I’m still unsure how servicing is arranged. We tried the “we’re out” door tag once, but don’t know if that prompted it; the second time we called, staff asked when we’d “scheduled” it. Nobody mentioned scheduling at check-in, and there’s no online information, so the process needs explaining. Even with those minor issues, I highly recommend it. The service was friendly and efficient, and the spacious, clean premium one-bedroom apartment had good facilities and a large, very comfortable bed. The buffet breakfast was excellent value, especially when booked ahead, and the pool and spa were great. The location is fantastic for sports at the MCG, tennis including the Australian Open, or AAMI Park. There are restaurants, shops, QV and Emporium malls, David Jones and Myers nearby, though the neighborhood is always active and not especially quiet. Public transport, including the free trams, is top-notch.
